The Drow War.. Land of Ashfar

Letter To Master Brassknuckle

Master Brassknuckle,
As usual I’m not sure what is happening. I remember going to bed after helping the head priest tend to some injured miners. Well.. holding things for the head priest. When i woke up, I was in a strange circle made of stone.

There were some figures carved in the stones.. One of them was a half orc, with 2 heads! Others were of some of the strange animals you showed me in that book. The one with all the pretty pictures. One of the others who woke up in that circle told me they were pictures in the stars. I looked, but all i saw was a purple mist. maybe tonite I’ll look to see the pictures in the stars.

There were some others who were in that circle to. Two of them were dwarves, though one talked strange.

I think the 3 others were human. One was very smart and seemed to know something about everything we came across. Even the strange carvings in the stones! He even seemed to know where we were. He told me, but I forgot.

Another one of the humans was dressed weird. It looked like he took a blanket and wrapped it around himself. And had a towel on his head! Some of the others seemed annoyed by him, because he kept talking about the “Sun King”, But i liked him, he even told me about hooks and bait and stuff. Fishing is a lot easier with that.

The last man also dressed weird. all in white with weird flappy things on his shoulders. I don’t know much about him, except he seemed to do all right in a fight. (he didn’t miss the shadowy things nearly as much as i did)

The Voice from the stones told us to find Jack’s Hawkfeather Sword. Or maybe it was Phil’s Dark Sweater Board. So we left to and headed across the big water to a small town. Ofcourse, I fell in, and got really wet. after they let dragged me back, all that fish smell made me hungry, and that’s when he taught me to fish. the dwarves went on to the town and me and the 3 humans stayed behind to dry our clothes and eat some fish. I think we will follow the dwarves soon, hopefully they know where breakfast is.. all that fish made me hungry.

Don’t worry, I havent touched a hammer since you warned me. I hope to write again soon.

NO GAME TONIGHT.. expect to be playing next week..
As I get questions about countries and such I will be adding info, the lands are purposefully vague so I can add adventures etc.

Next week we are having Ham & mashed potatoes (Thanks for the ham Slye!)
Happy Halloween and have a great weekend!

Beginning of the adventure

At first, it feels as if you have been dreaming. The sense of dislocation, the giddiness, the feeling of flying rapidly through space all adds to the unreality. Where are you? What were you doing a moment ago? These thoughts arise in your mind , as if you were half-awake, on the borderlands of consciousness. Perhaps you have been knocked senseless, or poisoned with some hallucinogenic drug. One thing is certain: you are in a strane place and you do not remember how you came here.

What you can see before you is as clouded and vague as the contents of your mind. There seems to be nothing but mist swirling about you, with a suggestion of huge shapes briefly glimpsed through it. The mist is cold on your face and with a start you begin to realize that this is no dream. You are here, physically with all your equipment. There is wet grass beneath your feet. You feel no pain so it stands to reason you were not knocked out or dragged here by some foul means and you feel the freedom of movement possible. How then did you come to be here?

Alone in the mist, you wonder why you do not feel more afraid. There is a presence here, something old and comforting, like a childhood memory.

The mist begins to clear. In the faint light of a new day, you see the huge forms that you glimpsed before. They are megaliths… standing stones that tower over you, set into the form of a circle. The place is achingly familiar to you though, but you are sure you have never been here before.

Through the thinning mists you see that you are not alone as you had thought. There are others here and by the look of their faces, they are as surprised to find themselves here as you are….

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.

The Drow War- Information
The Drow War World Information

*The World of Ashfar:

The world of Ashfar has many various types of civilizations and countries very much like our own. Some countries are quite civilized while others simply barbaric. Some places are cosmopolitan democracies where all races and religions are welcome where others are xenophobic and isolated. Travel from continents is extremely difficult however the Elves of the land have developed gates that allow instant travel between them. The elves charge a very high price for the use of these portals/gates and only the elves have the magic knowledge and resources to operate them. The rulers of the seas in Ashfar are the pirates. Ashfar has a cycle of months just like our own earth and their night sky is similar to ours however you may see the outline of a beholder rather then the big dipper floating above you. Magic works like it does in normal dungeons and dragons worlds with one major difference. The divine spells raise dead and resurrection etc. do not work as does any wish that restores life. Adventurers are not the norm in this adventurer and there are not enough heroes to go around. Times are hard even for the nobility in this world and the darkness seems to be creeping in everywhere. The drow/dark elves of this world are universally hated by all esp. the high elves so no player characters can be a drow. Humans are the main inhabitants of most of the world. There are NO known half-elves or half-drow because they insist on keeping their blood pure and thus magic pure (the exception being the wood elves but they do not lay claim to any of them being half wood elf they simply feel that if they are born in their lands then they are wood elf). The high elves are a snooty bunch but even they have their adventurers who seek to travel out of there cities and join the other races in protecting the world. There are no known dragons existing in the world having been eradicated many hundreds of years ago. The drow are the major threat to the world of ashfar. *
